This half day session will provide the audience with a comprehensive overview of the unique needs of the bariatric individual presenting with a spinal cord injury (SCI). Discussion will address how to work with these clients including adapting techniques and protocols as well as equipment needs. Accessability issues for services, driving, public transportation and other strategies to assist these individuals to meet their SCI related goals will also be explored. The role of therapy and nursing will be discussed, including treatment interventions for the bariatric patient, goal setting and choosing appropriate equipment in order to meet the unique needs of the bariatric population.
