Integration of Aquatic Therapy into Women's Health Services

This course will include background information on women’s health conditions necessary to assist the participant in implementing aquatic therapy services. Specific conditions, exclusive to women or more prevalent in women, will be presented with suggested aquatic interventions. Lastly, integration of land and aquatic services will be presented along with key documentation points for aquatic interventions.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

* Discuss the physical therapy properties of water and utilization of these properties in the rehabilitation of women with various pathologies and conditions specific to or more prevalent in women.
* Identify those women’s heath conditions and pathologies that would benefit from aquatic therapy interventions or the integration of aquatic and land interventions.
* Perform various aquatic therapy techniques to address the impairments and functional limitations associated with various women’s health pathologies/conditions.
* Cite supportive literature that substantiates the use of aquatic therapy in women’s health services.
* Implement documentation techniques that assist in the justification of aquatic services or combined aquatic and land services over land services only.
