The treatment of mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) has gained increasing attention with the increasing number of Veterans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Symptoms associated with mild TBI are varied, and can include physical, cognitive, and emotional changes. The mechanisms sustaining symptoms are often complex, and can best be addressed through an interdisciplinary team approach. This presentation will provide an overview of causes and symptoms of mild TBI, as well as innovative approaches to medical, psychological, and social work management. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of all of these approaches to help persons with mild TBI meet their goals for recovery.
